
Access and Collection Services Librarian

- Manage access to library resources: This includes overseeing the acquisition, organization, and maintenance of physical and digital collections, ensuring that all materials are easily accessible to users.
- Maintain library systems and technologies: Regularly monitor and update library systems and technologies to ensure they are functioning efficiently and effectively, troubleshoot any issues that arise, and implement new systems as needed.
- Provide exceptional customer service: Act as the primary point of contact for library users, responding to inquiries, providing assistance with research and resource access, and addressing any issues or concerns.
- Promote diversity and inclusion: Work to create an inclusive and welcoming environment for all library users, actively promoting diversity in collections and services.
- Collaborate with faculty and staff: Work closely with faculty and staff to understand their needs and ensure that the library is meeting their requirements for teaching and research.
- Train and supervise library staff: Train and supervise staff responsible for access and collection services, providing guidance and support to ensure that all library operations run smoothly.
- Monitor library budget: Keep track of library budget allocated for access and collection services, making sure that resources are used effectively and efficiently.
- Stay up-to-date on industry trends: Keep abreast of emerging trends and best practices in library services, systems, and technologies to ensure the library is providing cutting-edge access and collection services.
- Conduct assessments and make recommendations: Regularly assess the effectiveness of access and collection services and make recommendations for improvements based on data analysis and user feedback.
- Participate in library committees and initiatives: Collaborate with other library staff on various committees and initiatives to help advance the overall mission and goals of the library.
- Ensure compliance with copyright laws: Maintain knowledge of copyright laws and ensure that the library is in compliance with all regulations related to access and collection services.
- Support library events and programs: Assist with planning and executing library events and programs that promote access to resources and foster a vibrant scholarly community.
Master's Degree In Library And Information Science From An Ala-Accredited Program.
Minimum Of 2-3 Years Of Experience Working In A Library, Preferably In A Role Related To Access And Collection Services.
Demonstrated Knowledge Of Library Cataloging Systems, Metadata Standards, And Electronic Resource Management.
Familiarity With Current Trends And Technologies In Library Access And Collection Services, Such As Open Access And Institutional Repositories.
Excellent Communication And Customer Service Skills, With The Ability To Work Collaboratively With Colleagues And Provide Support To Library Users.
