Senior Designer, Performance (Studio)

- Conceptualize and execute designs for performance products that align with the Urban Outfitters brand aesthetic and meet the needs of our customers.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams including product development, merchandising, and marketing to ensure designs meet business goals and timelines.
- Lead and mentor junior designers, providing guidance and feedback to help them grow and develop their skills.
- Stay up-to-date with industry trends and competitors to ensure our designs are innovative and on-trend.
- Manage multiple projects simultaneously, prioritizing tasks effectively to meet deadlines.
- Create detailed technical specifications and communicate with manufacturers to ensure designs are accurately produced.
- Work closely with the production team to ensure the quality and functionality of performance products.
- Develop and maintain relationships with vendors and suppliers to source materials and stay informed of new technologies and techniques.
- Attend fittings and provide feedback on fit, construction, and overall design.
- Collaborate with the e-commerce team to create visually appealing and informative product descriptions and images.
- Participate in design presentations to internal teams and external partners.
- Continuously research and implement new techniques, technologies, and materials to improve the design process and product quality.
- Adhere to brand guidelines and standards to maintain consistency across all designs.
- Conduct market research to identify customer needs and preferences, and use insights to inform design decisions.
- Take ownership of projects from concept to production, ensuring designs are completed on time and within budget.
Extensive Experience In Design: A Senior Designer, Performance (Studio) At Urban Outfitters Should Have At Least 5 Years Of Experience In Design, With A Focus On Performance Or Athletic Wear. They Should Have A Strong Understanding Of Design Principles And Techniques, As Well As Experience In Creating Successful Designs For A Retail Environment.
Knowledge Of Performance Materials: The Ideal Candidate Should Have A Deep Understanding Of Performance Materials, Such As Moisture-Wicking Fabrics, Compression Materials, And Other Technical Fabrics Used In Athletic Wear. They Should Also Have Experience Working With These Materials In A Design Capacity.
Strong Portfolio: A Senior Designer, Performance (Studio) Should Have A Strong Portfolio Showcasing Their Previous Work In Performance Design. This Should Include A Variety Of Styles And Categories, As Well As Examples Of Successful Collaborations With Other Designers Or Brands.
Team Management Skills: In This Role, The Senior Designer Will Be Responsible For Leading A Team Of Designers And Collaborating With Other Departments Such As Production And Merchandising. Therefore, Strong Team Management Skills, As Well As The Ability To Communicate And Collaborate Effectively, Are Essential Qualifications For This Position.
