Job Description

Welcome to Urban Outfitters, a lifestyle brand known for its unique fashion and home decor offerings. We are currently seeking a Department Manager for our Service & Styling division. As the Department Manager, you will be responsible for overseeing the daily operations of our service and styling department, ensuring exceptional customer service and a stylish shopping experience for our customers. We are looking for a highly motivated and creative individual with a passion for fashion and a strong leadership presence. If you have a keen eye for style, excellent communication skills, and a track record of driving sales and managing a team, we want to hear from you!

  1. Oversee the daily operations of the service and styling department to ensure smooth and efficient functioning.
  2. Develop and implement strategies to enhance customer service and promote a stylish shopping experience.
  3. Train, mentor, and motivate team members to provide exceptional service and maintain high standards of performance.
  4. Monitor and analyze department sales and take necessary actions to meet or exceed sales targets.
  5. Maintain a strong awareness of current fashion trends, customer preferences, and market competition.
  6. Collaborate with other department managers to plan and execute promotional events and initiatives.
  7. Manage inventory levels and ensure timely replenishment to meet customer demands.
  8. Address customer complaints and resolve any issues in a timely and professional manner.
  9. Create and maintain a positive and inclusive work environment for team members.
  10. Ensure compliance with company policies and procedures, including safety and loss prevention measures.
  11. Prepare and present department reports and updates to upper management.
  12. Continuously assess and improve the department's performance, processes, and procedures.
  13. Act as a role model for the team by demonstrating exceptional customer service, strong work ethic, and a passion for fashion.
  14. Collaborate with HR to recruit, select, and onboard new team members.
  15. Work closely with the visual merchandising team to ensure the department is well-organized and visually appealing at all times.

Job Qualifications
  • Previous Management Experience: The Ideal Candidate For This Position Should Have At Least 2-3 Years Of Experience In A Management Role, Preferably In A Retail Or Fashion Setting. This Experience Should Include Overseeing A Team And Managing Operations.

  • Strong Customer Service Skills: As A Department Manager, One Of The Primary Responsibilities Will Be To Ensure Exceptional Customer Service Is Provided To All Customers. The Candidate Should Have A Proven Track Record Of Delivering Outstanding Customer Service And Resolving Customer Issues.

  • Knowledge Of Fashion And Styling: Urban Outfitters Is A Fashion-Forward Brand, And The Department Manager Should Have A Strong Understanding Of Current Fashion Trends And Be Able To Provide Styling Advice To Both Customers And Employees.

  • Team Leadership And Development: This Role Will Involve Managing A Team Of Sales Associates, So The Ideal Candidate Should Have Experience In Team Leadership And Development. This Includes The Ability To Motivate And Coach Team Members, As Well As Create A Positive And Inclusive Work Environment.

  • Excellent Communication And Organizational Skills: The Department Manager Will Be Responsible For Overseeing Multiple Aspects Of The Department, Including Inventory Management, Scheduling, And Communication With Other Departments. Strong Communication And Organizational Skills Are Essential For Success In This Role.
