Job Description

Welcome to Urban Outfitters! We are a global lifestyle brand known for our eclectic selection of fashion, home decor, and lifestyle products. We are currently seeking a passionate and detail-oriented Assistant Buyer to join our Men's Branded team. In this role, you will work closely with our Buying team to support the development and execution of our men's branded merchandising strategy. We are looking for someone with a strong eye for trend and a keen understanding of the Urban Outfitters aesthetic.   1. Collaborate with the Buying team to develop and execute the men's branded merchandising strategy for Urban Outfitters.
  2. Research and stay up-to-date on current fashion trends and the Urban Outfitters aesthetic to inform buying decisions.
  3. Assist in the selection and sourcing of products for the men's branded category.
  4. Conduct market analysis and identify new product opportunities to drive sales and profitability.
  5. Coordinate with vendors and negotiate pricing and terms to ensure competitive and profitable margins.
  6. Assist in the creation and maintenance of purchase orders and vendor communication.
  7. Monitor inventory levels and work with the Buying team to ensure timely and efficient replenishment.
  8. Collaborate with the Visual Merchandising team to ensure the proper display and presentation of merchandise in stores.
  9. Participate in buying meetings and provide input on product selection and strategy.
  10. Build and maintain strong relationships with vendors and attend trade shows and market appointments to source new products.
  11. Support the Buying team in daily administrative tasks and maintain accurate buying records and reports.
  12. Stay informed on industry trends, competitor strategies, and sales performance to make informed buying decisions.
  13. Contribute to the overall success of the men's branded category by meeting sales and profitability targets.
  14. Demonstrate a strong understanding of the Urban Outfitters brand and effectively communicate it to vendors and team members.
  15. Contribute to a positive and collaborative work environment by actively participating in team meetings and offering creative ideas and solutions.

  • Knowledge Of Men's Fashion Trends: An Assistant Buyer At Urban Outfitters Should Have A Strong Understanding Of Current And Upcoming Men's Fashion Trends. This Includes A Knowledge Of Popular Brands, Styles, And Silhouettes.

  • Buying Experience: Previous Buying Or Merchandising Experience Is Essential For An Assistant Buyer At Urban Outfitters. This Can Include Experience In Retail, Wholesale, Or E-Commerce Buying, As Well As Experience In Working With Branded Merchandise.

  • Analytical Skills: Assistant Buyers Need To Be Able To Analyze Sales Data And Market Trends To Make Informed Buying Decisions. This Requires Strong Analytical Skills And The Ability To Interpret Data To Identify Opportunities And Risks.

  • Negotiation Skills: Negotiation Is A Key Aspect Of Buying, And An Assistant Buyer At Urban Outfitters Should Possess Strong Negotiation Skills. This Includes Being Able To Negotiate Pricing, Terms, And Delivery Schedules With Vendors To Ensure The Best Deals For The Company.

  • Strong Communication And Collaboration: Assistant Buyers Work Closely With Other Teams, Such As Planning, Allocations, And Visual Merchandising. Therefore, Strong Communication And Collaboration Skills Are Necessary To Effectively Work With Cross-Functional Teams And Ensure Cohesive Buying Strategies.
