  1. Act as the primary point of contact for all customs-related matters within the company.
  2. Ensure compliance with all relevant customs regulations and procedures.
  3. Facilitate the smooth and timely movement of goods across borders.
  4. Provide guidance and support to internal teams and clients regarding customs requirements.
  5. Prepare and submit necessary documents for customs clearance.
  6. Communicate with customs officials and resolve any issues or delays.
  7. Keep up-to-date with changes in customs regulations and update internal teams accordingly.
  8. Monitor and track shipments to ensure they are cleared through customs in a timely manner.
  9. Maintain accurate records of all customs-related activities and transactions.
  10. Collaborate with other departments, such as logistics and finance, to ensure efficient and accurate customs processing.
  11. Identify and implement process improvements to increase efficiency and reduce costs.
  12. Provide exceptional customer service by promptly addressing any customs-related inquiries or concerns.
  13. Keep abreast of industry developments and trends related to customs brokerage.
  14. Participate in training and development programs to enhance knowledge and skills.
  15. Adhere to company policies and procedures, as well as local, state, and federal laws.

Job Qualifications

  • Knowledge Of Import And Export Regulations: A Customs Brokerage Representative At Ups Should Have A Strong Understanding Of Import And Export Regulations, Including Customs Laws, Tariffs, And Trade Agreements. This Knowledge Is Essential For Ensuring That Shipments Comply With All Applicable Laws And Regulations.

  • Familiarity With Customs Documentation: The Job Of A Customs Brokerage Representative Involves Handling A Variety Of Customs Documentation, Including Commercial Invoices, Packing Lists, And Customs Declarations. Therefore, Candidates Should Have Experience With These Documents And Be Able To Accurately Complete Them.

  • Strong Communication Skills: As A Representative Of Ups, The Customs Brokerage Representative Will Be Communicating With Various Stakeholders, Including Customs Officials, Clients, And Other Ups Employees. Therefore, Excellent Communication Skills, Both Written And Verbal, Are Essential For This Role.

  • Attention To Detail: Customs Clearance Requires Meticulous Attention To Detail To Avoid Delays, Fines, Or Other Penalties. A Customs Brokerage Representative Must Be Detail-Oriented And Able To Spot Errors Or Discrepancies In Documentation.

  • Experience With Customs Brokerage Software: Ups Uses Specialized Software For Customs Brokerage Activities, So Candidates With Experience Using These Systems Will Have An Advantage. Proficiency In Software Such As Ups Worldship Or Ups Tradeability Is Highly Desirable For This Role.
