- Perform daily maintenance tasks such as mowing, trimming, and pruning of trees and shrubs to ensure the cleanliness and safety of the campus grounds.
- Inspect trees for signs of disease, damage, and pests, and take appropriate action to prevent or mitigate any potential hazards.
- Operate and maintain various equipment and tools, such as chainsaws and trimmers, in a safe and efficient manner.
- Plant and transplant trees and other plants as needed, ensuring proper placement and care.
- Collaborate with other members of the Grounds Services team to develop and implement sustainable landscaping practices.
- Monitor and maintain irrigation systems to ensure proper watering of plants and trees.
- Keep accurate records of work performed, including tree inventory and maintenance schedules.
- Communicate with campus community members to address any concerns or requests related to the grounds and trees.
- Stay up-to-date on industry best practices and safety guidelines for arboriculture.
- Adhere to all university policies and procedures, as well as local and state regulations, related to grounds maintenance and arboriculture.
Knowledge Of Arboriculture: A Successful Candidate Should Have A Strong Understanding Of Tree And Plant Care, Including Pruning, Planting, And Disease Management. This Knowledge Is Essential For Maintaining The Health And Appearance Of The University's Grounds.
Experience With Grounds Maintenance Equipment: The Role Of A Grounds Attendant Arborist Requires The Use Of Various Equipment, Such As Chainsaws, Trimmers, And Chippers. Candidates Should Have Experience Operating And Maintaining These Tools To Ensure Safe And Efficient Grounds Maintenance.
Physical Fitness: This Job Requires Physical Labor, Such As Lifting Heavy Objects, Operating Equipment, And Working In Various Weather Conditions. Candidates Should Be Physically Fit And Able To Perform These Tasks Without Difficulty.
