
Electrician - Facilities Operations & Maintenance

- Perform routine and preventive maintenance of electrical systems and equipment on campus.
- Troubleshoot and diagnose electrical issues and determine appropriate solutions.
- Install, repair, and maintain electrical systems and equipment, including lighting, power distribution, and other related components.
- Ensure compliance with all safety regulations and codes while performing electrical work.
- Monitor and maintain electrical inventory and order necessary materials and supplies.
- Collaborate with other members of the Facilities Operations & Maintenance team to coordinate repairs and maintenance projects.
- Keep accurate records of all electrical work performed, including maintenance schedules, repairs, and installations.
- Respond to emergency calls and perform repairs in a timely manner.
- Stay updated on the latest electrical codes, regulations, and techniques to ensure the highest quality work.
- Communicate effectively with university staff, faculty, and students regarding electrical issues and repairs.
- Maintain a clean and organized work area and ensure proper disposal of hazardous materials.
- Assist in training and mentoring new electrician hires.
- Prioritize and manage multiple tasks to meet deadlines and maintain efficient operations.
- Collaborate with outside vendors and contractors as needed.
- Act as a representative of the university, promoting a positive image and maintaining a high level of professionalism at all times.
Valid Electrician License: A Qualified Candidate Should Possess A Valid Electrician License Issued By The State Of Texas, Demonstrating Their Knowledge And Skills In Electrical Systems And Safety Protocols.
Experience In Facilities Operations & Maintenance: The Ideal Candidate Should Have At Least 2-3 Years Of Experience Working In Facilities Operations And Maintenance, Specifically In An Educational Or Institutional Setting.
Knowledge Of Building Codes And Regulations: A Qualified Electrician Should Have A Thorough Understanding Of Local And State Building Codes And Regulations, As Well As Knowledge Of National Electric Code (Nec) Guidelines.
Ability To Troubleshoot And Problem-Solve: The Role Of An Electrician Often Involves Troubleshooting And Problem-Solving Electrical Issues. A Qualified Candidate Should Possess Strong Analytical And Critical Thinking Skills To Effectively Diagnose And Resolve Problems.
