Job Description

Do you have a desire to shape the next generation of STEM leaders through innovative teaching and research? If so, the University of Texas at San Antonio is looking for an Associate Professor to join our STEM Education Cluster. As a member of our dynamic and collaborative team, you will have the opportunity to make a significant impact on the field of STEM education and contribute to the success of our students. We are seeking a highly qualified candidate with a doctoral degree in a STEM-related field and a strong record of teaching, research, and service.   1. Develop and teach undergraduate and graduate courses in STEM education, with a focus on innovative and engaging teaching methods.
  2. Conduct research in the field of STEM education, resulting in publications in peer-reviewed journals and presentations at conferences.
  3. Mentor and advise graduate students in their research and career development in STEM education.
  4. Collaborate with colleagues in the STEM Education Cluster and other departments to develop interdisciplinary courses and programs.
  5. Participate in departmental and university service, including committee work, program development, and outreach initiatives.
  6. Stay current with trends and developments in STEM education and incorporate them into teaching and research.
  7. Develop and maintain partnerships with local schools and organizations to enhance STEM education opportunities for students.
  8. Participate in professional development activities to continually improve teaching and research skills.
  9. Engage in grant writing and secure external funding to support research projects and initiatives.
  10. Contribute to the overall mission and goals of the university and the STEM Education Cluster through active involvement in strategic planning and initiatives.

  • A Phd In A Stem-Related Field: A Strong Educational Background In A Relevant Stem Discipline Is Essential For An Associate Professor In The Stem Education Cluster, As They Will Be Expected To Teach And Conduct Research In This Area.

  • Previous Teaching Experience: The Ideal Candidate Should Have A Proven Track Record Of Teaching Excellence In A University Setting, With A Focus On Stem Education. This Could Include Experience In Course Development, Curriculum Design, And Teaching At Both The Undergraduate And Graduate Level.

  • Research Experience And Publication Record: As An Associate Professor, The Candidate Should Have A Record Of Conducting High-Quality Research In The Field Of Stem Education And Should Have A Strong Publication Record In Reputable Journals.

  • Leadership And Collaboration Skills: The Candidate Should Have Experience In Leading And Collaborating With Teams, As They Will Be Expected To Work Closely With Other Faculty Members And Participate In Departmental And University-Wide Initiatives.
