  1. Develop and implement programs and initiatives that promote diversity and inclusivity in STEM fields at the University of San Diego.
  2. Serve as a resource for underrepresented students in STEM, providing support and guidance to help them succeed in their academic and career goals.
  3. Collaborate with faculty, staff, and student organizations to create a welcoming and inclusive environment for underrepresented students in STEM.
  4. Conduct outreach and recruitment efforts to attract and retain underrepresented students in STEM programs at the University of San Diego.
  5. Provide individualized support and mentorship to underrepresented students in STEM, addressing their unique needs and challenges.
  6. Collect and analyze data to assess the effectiveness of retention programs and make recommendations for improvement.
  7. Advocate for the needs and concerns of underrepresented students in STEM within the university community.
  8. Stay informed on current research and best practices related to diversity and inclusion in STEM education.
  9. Maintain strong relationships with local organizations and networks to enhance opportunities for underrepresented students in STEM.
  10. Collaborate with other retention specialists and university departments to develop comprehensive support services for underrepresented students in STEM.
  11. Serve as a role model and leader for students, promoting a culture of inclusivity and academic excellence.
  12. Participate in professional development opportunities to continuously improve knowledge and skills related to promoting diversity and inclusion in STEM.
  13. Foster a positive and inclusive learning environment where all students feel valued and supported.
  14. Contribute to the overall mission and goals of the university by promoting diversity and inclusivity in STEM education.
  15. Uphold the values and principles of the University of San Diego, including a commitment to social justice and equity in education.

Job Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Or Master's Degree In A Stem-Related Field: A Strong Foundation In A Stem Field Is Crucial For Understanding The Unique Challenges Faced By Students Pursuing Stem Degrees.

  • Experience With Student Retention Initiatives: The Ideal Candidate Should Have Experience Developing And Implementing Programs To Help Students Persist And Succeed In Stem Majors.

  • Knowledge Of Current Trends And Issues In Stem Education: The Stem Field Is Constantly Evolving, And The Ideal Candidate Should Have A Deep Understanding Of The Challenges And Opportunities Facing Students In This Field.

  • Strong Communication And Interpersonal Skills: As A Stem Retention Specialist, The Candidate Will Be Working Closely With Students, Faculty, And Staff. Excellent Communication And Interpersonal Skills Are Necessary For Building Relationships And Effectively Addressing Students' Needs.

  • Data Analysis And Reporting Skills: The Candidate Should Be Proficient In Analyzing Data To Identify Trends And Patterns, Which Can Inform The Development Of Effective Retention Strategies. They Should Also Be Able To Present Data In A Clear And Concise Manner To Various Stakeholders.
