The University of San Diego is seeking a Head of Access and Outreach Services Librarian to lead our efforts in providing inclusive and accessible services to our diverse campus community.   1. Develop and implement strategies to promote equitable access to information for all members of the university community.
  2. Lead and manage a team of librarians and support staff in the Access and Outreach Services department.
  3. Collaborate with other departments and campus partners to ensure that library services and resources are inclusive and accessible.
  4. Stay up-to-date on best practices and emerging technologies related to access and outreach services in libraries.
  5. Create and maintain policies and procedures that align with the university's commitment to social justice.
  6. Monitor and analyze usage data to identify areas for improvement and make data-informed decisions.
  7. Advocate for the needs of marginalized and underrepresented groups in the university community.
  8. Provide training and professional development opportunities for library staff to enhance their understanding of inclusive and accessible practices.
  9. Manage the budget for the Access and Outreach Services department and allocate resources effectively.
  10. Serve as a liaison between the library and campus diversity and inclusion initiatives.
  11. Develop and maintain partnerships with external organizations and initiatives to expand access to information beyond the university.
  12. Collaborate with faculty to integrate inclusive and accessible practices into the curriculum.
  13. Stay current on copyright and licensing issues related to providing equitable access to information.
  14. Participate in professional development activities and contribute to the field of access and outreach services through presentations and publications.
  15. Foster a welcoming and inclusive environment for all library users.

Job Qualifications
  • Master's Degree In Library Science Or A Related Field From An Ala-Accredited Institution.

  • Minimum Of 5 Years Of Experience In An Academic Library, With At Least 2 Years In A Supervisory Or Management Role.

  • Demonstrated Knowledge Of Current Trends And Best Practices In Access Services, Outreach, And User Experience In Academic Libraries.

  • Excellent Communication And Interpersonal Skills, With A Proven Ability To Collaborate With Diverse Stakeholders Including Faculty, Students, And Library Staff.

  • Strong Leadership And Strategic Planning Skills, With A Track Record Of Successfully Implementing Innovative Programs And Services To Enhance Access And Outreach.
