- Set up and dismantle stage equipment and props for performances and rehearsals.
- Assist in the loading and unloading of equipment and materials for performances and events.
- Work closely with the production team to ensure timely and accurate execution of stage set-ups and changes.
- Operate and maintain stage equipment, including lighting, sound, and rigging systems.
- Ensure the safety and security of all stage equipment and props during performances and rehearsals.
- Assist in the coordination and movement of performers and props during performances.
- Troubleshoot technical issues and make necessary repairs or adjustments during performances.
- Maintain a clean and organized backstage area, including storage of equipment and props.
- Collaborate with other stage crew members and production staff to ensure a seamless and professional production.
- Adhere to all safety protocols and procedures to ensure a safe working environment for all performers and crew members.
- Assist with other production-related tasks as needed, such as load-ins, load-outs, and equipment maintenance.
- Stay up-to-date on industry developments and techniques to continuously improve the quality of performances.
- Represent the University of Rochester and the performing arts community in a professional and positive manner at all times.
- Adhere to all University policies and procedures, including those related to diversity, equity, and inclusion.
- Maintain a positive and collaborative attitude while working in a fast-paced and dynamic environment.
Previous Experience In Stage Production: Candidates Should Have Previous Experience Working In A Theatrical Production Or Event Setting, Such As A Community Theater, School Play, Or Concert Venue.
Knowledge Of Stage Equipment And Rigging: A Strong Understanding Of Stage Equipment, Including Lighting, Sound, And Rigging Systems, Is Essential For A Stage Hand Position. This Includes Familiarity With Different Types Of Equipment And Proper Procedures For Setting Up And Operating Them.
Physical Stamina And Dexterity: The Job Of A Stage Hand Can Be Physically Demanding, Requiring Individuals To Lift And Move Heavy Equipment, Climb Ladders, And Work In Various Positions For Extended Periods Of Time. Therefore, Candidates Should Be Physically Fit And Able To Perform These Tasks Safely And Efficiently.
Attention To Detail: Stage Hands Are Responsible For Setting Up And Maintaining The Technical Elements Of A Production, Which Requires A Keen Eye For Detail. This Includes Ensuring That Equipment Is Set Up Correctly, Cables Are Organized, And Stage Cues Are Followed Accurately.
