  1. Perform venipuncture and capillary puncture on patients to collect blood samples for diagnostic testing.
  2. Prepare and label specimens accurately and efficiently.
  3. Maintain a clean and organized work area and adhere to infection control protocols.
  4. Monitor patient reactions and provide assistance and support as needed.
  5. Communicate effectively with patients, medical staff, and other team members.
  6. Utilize electronic medical record systems to accurately document patient information.
  7. Follow all safety procedures and precautions to ensure the well-being of patients and staff.
  8. Stay up-to-date with current phlebotomy techniques and procedures.
  9. Assist in training new phlebotomy staff and providing guidance and support to colleagues.
  10. Maintain inventory levels and perform equipment maintenance to ensure proper functioning.
  11. Adhere to HIPAA regulations and maintain patient confidentiality at all times.
  12. Collaborate with other healthcare professionals to ensure the highest quality of patient care.
  13. Identify and report any issues or concerns to the appropriate supervisor.
  14. Continuously strive to improve processes and procedures to enhance the patient experience.
  15. Demonstrate a strong commitment to patient satisfaction and providing exceptional customer service.

Job Qualifications
  • Certification: A Phlebotomist At University Of Rochester Must Be Certified Through A Reputable Organization Such As The American Society Of Clinical Pathology (Ascp) Or National Center For Competency Testing (Ncct).
