Job Description

Welcome to the University of Rochester! As a member of our academic advising team, you will play a crucial role in supporting and guiding our students towards their academic and personal goals. We are seeking a highly motivated and knowledgeable individual to join our team as an Academic Advisor I. In this role, you will have the opportunity to work closely with students, faculty, and staff to help our students navigate their academic journey. If you are passionate about student success and possess strong communication and problem-solving skills, we encourage you to apply for this position.

  1. Meet with students individually to provide academic advising and support, including course selection, degree planning, and goal setting.
  2. Maintain a thorough understanding of the University's academic policies, procedures, and degree requirements.
  3. Stay updated on changes to curriculum, course offerings, and academic programs in order to provide accurate and relevant advice to students.
  4. Collaborate with faculty and staff members to identify and address academic concerns and challenges faced by students.
  5. Utilize various resources and tools to help students explore academic and career options and make informed decisions.
  6. Maintain accurate and organized records of student appointments, notes, and progress towards degree completion.
  7. Participate in training and professional development opportunities to stay current on best practices in academic advising.
  8. Serve as a resource and referral point for students seeking additional support services, such as tutoring, counseling, or disability accommodations.
  9. Assist in the planning and execution of academic events, workshops, and orientation programs for new and current students.
  10. Actively contribute to the continuous improvement of the academic advising program through participation in team meetings and offering suggestions for process enhancements.

Job Qualifications
