- Provide academic guidance and support to students in order to help them achieve their academic goals.
- Serve as a mentor and resource for students, offering advice and assistance in navigating the university's academic requirements and policies.
- Develop and maintain positive relationships with students, promoting a welcoming and inclusive environment.
- Stay up-to-date on university curriculum and program changes in order to effectively advise students.
- Collaborate with faculty and staff to identify and address student needs and concerns.
- Assist students in developing academic plans and selecting appropriate courses.
- Monitor student progress and intervene when necessary to ensure academic success.
- Organize and lead workshops and informational sessions for students on various academic topics.
- Keep accurate and confidential records of student meetings and interactions.
- Participate in university events and initiatives to promote academic success and student engagement.
- Stay current on best practices and trends in academic advising and higher education.
- Contribute to the development and improvement of academic advising processes and procedures.
- Serve as a liaison between students and university resources, connecting students with appropriate support services.
- Support and promote a diverse and inclusive learning environment for all students.
- Maintain a strong commitment to the mission and values of the University of Rochester.
Master's Degree In Higher Education Administration, Counseling, Or A Related Field.
At Least 2 Years Of Experience In Academic Advising Or Student Services In A University Setting.
Knowledge Of Academic Policies And Procedures, As Well As Degree Requirements For Various Majors.
Excellent Communication And Interpersonal Skills To Effectively Work With A Diverse Student Population.
Ability To Use Technology To Assist Students With Course Registration, Degree Planning, And Other Academic Needs.
