- Provide academic advising to students in a timely and efficient manner.
- Assist students in setting and achieving academic goals.
- Develop and maintain strong relationships with students to understand their academic needs and challenges.
- Stay up-to-date on university policies, programs, and resources to effectively guide students.
- Collaborate with faculty and other departments to support students' academic success.
- Identify and address any academic or personal barriers that may impede students' progress.
- Utilize effective communication skills to provide clear and accurate information to students.
- Maintain accurate and confidential records of student interactions and progress.
- Participate in training and development opportunities to continuously improve advising skills.
- Contribute to the development and implementation of new advising initiatives.
- Act as a resource for students to navigate university systems and processes.
- Foster a positive and inclusive environment for students from diverse backgrounds.
- Support students in exploring and declaring a major or minor.
- Assist with course selection, registration, and academic planning.
- Collaborate with other advisors to ensure consistency and quality in advising services.
- Participate in university events and initiatives to promote academic success and retention.
- Uphold university standards and ethical principles in all interactions with students.
- Stay informed on current trends and best practices in academic advising.
- Contribute to the development of marketing and outreach materials for advising services.
- Maintain a high level of professionalism and confidentiality at all times.
A Master's Degree In Higher Education, Counseling, Or A Related Field.
At Least 2 Years Of Experience Working In Academic Advising Or A Related Field In A Higher Education Setting.
Strong Knowledge Of Academic Policies And Procedures At The University Of Rochester, Including Degree Requirements And Course Offerings.
Excellent Communication And Interpersonal Skills, With The Ability To Advise And Guide Students From Diverse Backgrounds.
Familiarity With Student Development Theory And The Ability To Apply It In Advising Sessions To Support Student Success And Retention.
