We are currently seeking a Director of Outdoor Programs and Recreation and an Assistant Director of Student Experiential Learning to join our dynamic team and lead our students in outdoor adventures and experiential learning opportunities.As the Director of Outdoor Programs and Recreation, you will have the unique opportunity to design and oversee a variety of outdoor programs and activities that promote physical, mental, and emotional well-being. You will also collaborate with campus partners to create a culture of outdoor engagement and sustainability among our students. To succeed in this role, you must have a strong background in outdoor education, leadership development, and program management.As the Assistant Director of Student Experiential Learning, you will play a crucial role in providing students with hands-on learning experiences that complement their academic studies. You will work closely with faculty, staff, and community partners to develop and implement experiential learning opportunities, such as internships, service-learning projects, and study abroad programs.   1. Develop and oversee a comprehensive outdoor programs and recreation curriculum that aligns with the university's mission and values.
  2. Collaborate with campus partners and external organizations to create a culture of sustainability and outdoor engagement among students.
  3. Design and implement leadership development opportunities for students through outdoor activities and experiences.
  4. Manage the budget and resources for the outdoor programs and recreation department.
  5. Recruit, train, and supervise a team of program coordinators and staff to ensure the successful execution of outdoor programs.
  6. Ensure the safety and well-being of students participating in outdoor activities by following all necessary protocols and risk management procedures.
  7. Provide guidance and support to students in planning and organizing their own outdoor trips and adventures.
  8. Develop and maintain relationships with outdoor equipment vendors and suppliers to ensure the availability of necessary gear and equipment for programs.
  9. Stay updated on industry trends and best practices in outdoor education and recreation to continuously improve and enhance the university's programs.
  10. Foster a diverse and inclusive environment within the outdoor programs and recreation department, promoting equity and accessibility for all students.
  11. As the Assistant Director of Student Experiential Learning, collaborate with faculty, staff, and community partners to develop and implement a variety of hands-on learning opportunities for students.
  12. Manage the logistics and administrative tasks related to experiential learning programs, including internships, service-learning, and study abroad.
  13. Provide guidance and support to students in identifying and applying for experiential learning opportunities that align with their academic and personal goals.
  14. Develop and maintain relationships with employers, organizations, and alumni to create new opportunities for students.
  15. Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of experiential learning programs and make recommendations for improvement.
  16. Collaborate with the career services department to help students connect their experiential learning experiences to their career goals.
  17. Serve as a mentor and role model for students, providing guidance and support as they navigate their academic and personal journeys.

Job Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree In Outdoor Recreation, Education, Or Related Field.

  • Minimum Of 3-5 Years Of Experience In Program Development And Management In Outdoor Programs And Recreation.

  • Strong Leadership And Communication Skills, With The Ability To Work Collaboratively With Students, Staff, And Faculty.

  • Wilderness First Responder Or Equivalent Certification.

  • Experience In Risk Management, Budget Management, And Staff Supervision.
