Job Description

Welcome to the University of Nevada Police Department! We are currently seeking dedicated and driven individuals to join our team as University Police Officers and Cadets. As a member of our team, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the safety and security of our campus community.   1. Maintain a strong commitment to public service and act as a positive role model for the campus community.
  2. Uphold and enforce all laws and regulations on campus, including traffic laws and university policies.
  3. Patrol designated areas of campus on foot, bike, or vehicle to deter and prevent crime.
  4. Respond to emergency and non-emergency calls, evaluate situations, and take appropriate action.
  5. Conduct thorough investigations and collect evidence to support criminal cases.
  6. Provide assistance and support to students, faculty, and staff in need, including responding to medical emergencies.
  7. Assist with crowd and traffic control during special events and emergencies.
  8. Collaborate with other law enforcement agencies and campus departments to maintain a safe and secure campus environment.
  9. Participate in ongoing training and professional development to enhance skills and knowledge.
  10. Serve as a resource for crime prevention and safety education for the campus community.
  11. Maintain accurate and detailed records of all activities and incidents.
  12. Demonstrate proficiency in the use of firearms, defensive tactics, and other law enforcement equipment.
  13. Adhere to department policies and procedures and maintain a high level of professionalism at all times.
  14. Attend court hearings and provide testimony when necessary.
  15. Communicate effectively and professionally with individuals from diverse backgrounds.
  16. Continuously assess and evaluate potential safety risks on campus and take appropriate action to mitigate them.
  17. Serve as a positive representative of the University Police Department and the university as a whole.
  18. Foster positive relationships with students, faculty, and staff, and promote a sense of safety and security on campus.
  19. Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned by superiors.

  • Completion Of A Certified Police Academy Training Program: Applicants For A University Police Officer 1 And Cadet Job At University Of Nevada Must Have Completed A Certified Police Academy Training Program. This Ensures That Candidates Have Received The Necessary Training And Knowledge To Perform Their Duties Effectively.

  • Possession Of A Valid Driver's License: A Valid Driver's License Is A Necessary Qualification For This Job As University Police Officers And Cadets Are Required To Patrol The Campus And Respond To Emergencies Quickly.
