- Create and implement lesson plans and activities to improve students' reading and writing abilities.
- Conduct assessments to identify areas of improvement and track student progress.
- Provide personalized feedback and guidance to students based on their individual needs.
- Collaborate with other tutors and staff to develop and maintain a positive and inclusive learning environment.
- Stay up-to-date on current writing and reading strategies and techniques.
- Assist students in utilizing available resources and technology to enhance their learning experience.
- Maintain accurate and organized records of tutoring sessions and student progress.
- Communicate regularly with students, faculty, and staff to ensure a cohesive and effective support system for students.
- Participate in training and professional development opportunities to enhance tutoring skills and knowledge.
- Adhere to university policies and procedures regarding academic integrity and confidentiality.
- Serve as a role model for students by demonstrating enthusiasm, dedication, and a strong work ethic.
- Promote the Writing & Speaking Center's services and events to students and faculty.
- Attend and participate in staff meetings and workshops.
- Perform other related duties as assigned by the supervisor.
Strong Communication Skills: As A Student Worker - Reading & Writing Lab Facilitator, The Candidate Must Possess Excellent Communication Skills To Effectively Interact With Students And Faculty Members. This Includes Being Able To Explain Complex Concepts In A Clear And Concise Manner.
Knowledge Of Reading And Writing Strategies: The Candidate Must Have A Strong Understanding Of Various Reading And Writing Strategies To Be Able To Assist Students With Their Assignments. This Includes Knowledge Of Grammar, Punctuation, And Citation Styles.
Ability To Work With Diverse Student Population: The University Has A Diverse Student Population, And The Candidate Must Be Able To Work With Students From Different Backgrounds And Cultures. This Requires Cultural Competency And Sensitivity Towards Students' Needs.
Time Management Skills: As A Student Worker, The Candidate Will Be Responsible For Managing Their Time Effectively To Balance Their Own Academic Workload And Their Duties At The Reading & Writing Lab. This Requires Strong Time Management Skills To Ensure All Tasks Are Completed In A Timely Manner.
