Job Description

The University of Nevada is seeking a Student Worker to join our Custodial Services team within Facilities Maintenance Services. This role offers the chance to develop essential skills in custodial services and contribute to the overall cleanliness and functionality of our campus facilities.   1. Perform regular custodial duties such as cleaning, sweeping, mopping, and disinfecting designated areas on campus.
  2. Ensure that all assigned areas are kept clean and presentable at all times.
  3. Follow established cleaning schedules and procedures to maintain a high standard of cleanliness.
  4. Report any maintenance or repair needs to the appropriate supervisor.
  5. Assist in the setup and breakdown of events and activities on campus.
  6. Maintain inventory of cleaning supplies and equipment and notify supervisor when supplies need to be replenished.
  7. Adhere to all safety and security protocols while performing job duties.
  8. Communicate effectively with team members and supervisors to ensure a smooth workflow.
  9. Attend training sessions and meetings as required.
  10. Demonstrate a positive attitude and willingness to learn and take on new tasks.
  11. Provide exceptional customer service to students, faculty, and staff.
  12. Represent the University of Nevada in a professional and respectful manner at all times.
  13. Be punctual and reliable when reporting for scheduled shifts.
  14. Work collaboratively with other members of the custodial team to achieve departmental goals.
  15. Perform other duties as assigned by the supervisor.

Job Qualifications

  • Experience In Custodial Services: Prior Experience In Custodial Or Janitorial Work Is Desirable For This Position. This Includes Knowledge And Experience In Cleaning Techniques, Equipment, And Products.

  • Physical Fitness And Stamina: The Job May Involve Heavy Lifting, Moving Furniture, And Standing For Long Periods Of Time. Therefore, Physical Fitness And Stamina Are Important Qualifications For This Position.

  • Attention To Detail: As A Custodial Worker, Attention To Detail Is Crucial To Ensure That All Areas Are Cleaned Thoroughly And To The Required Standards. This Includes Being Able To Identify And Address Any Maintenance Or Repair Needs Within The Facilities.

  • Time Management Skills: The Role May Involve Cleaning Multiple Areas Within A Tight Schedule. As Such, Strong Time Management Skills Are Important To Ensure That All Tasks Are Completed Within The Allocated Time Frame.

  • Strong Communication Skills: The Role May Require Interacting With Other University Staff, Students, And Visitors. Therefore, Strong Communication Skills Are Essential To Effectively And Professionally Communicate With Others While On The Job.
