Job Description

The University of Nevada Libraries is seeking a Library Assistant 2 to join our team and contribute to our mission of supporting teaching, learning, and research. As a Library Assistant 2, you will play a critical role in providing excellent customer service and ensuring the smooth operation of our library.   1. Provide excellent customer service to library patrons by greeting them, answering questions, and assisting with research needs.
  2. Assist with the management and organization of the library's collection, including shelving, cataloging, and inventory.
  3. Process and maintain library materials, including checking in and out books, reshelving returned items, and maintaining accurate records.
  4. Assist with the implementation of library policies and procedures to ensure smooth operation and compliance with university guidelines.
  5. Answer phone calls, respond to emails, and handle other forms of communication from library patrons and staff.
  6. Collaborate with other library staff to develop and implement programs and services that meet the needs of the university community.
  7. Provide technical support and assistance to patrons using library resources, including computers, printers, and databases.
  8. Help maintain a clean and organized library space by shelving books, tidying study areas, and restocking supplies.
  9. Participate in ongoing training and professional development opportunities to stay updated on library procedures, technology, and resources.
  10. Serve as a positive and knowledgeable representative of the library and the university, fostering a welcoming and inclusive environment for all patrons.

Job Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree In Library And Information Science Or A Related Field.

  • Minimum Of 2 Years Of Experience Working In A Library Setting, Preferably At A University Or Academic Library.

  • Proficiency In Using Library Management Systems And Software, Such As Alma Or Voyager.

  • Excellent Organizational And Time Management Skills, With The Ability To Prioritize Tasks And Manage Multiple Projects Simultaneously.

  • Strong Communication And Interpersonal Skills, With The Ability To Work Effectively With Diverse Groups Of Patrons, Faculty, And Staff.
