Job Description

We are looking for an enthusiastic and motivated Student Respiratory Therapy Technician to join the team at the University of Mississippi Medical Center. This is an excellent opportunity for someone who is eager to learn and grow within the field of respiratory therapy. The ideal candidate will have a strong commitment to patient care, excellent communication skills, and the ability to work independently and as part of a team. The successful candidate will demonstrate a positive attitude and strong work ethic as they support the respiratory team’s mission of providing excellent quality care to our patients.The requirements for this position include: a high school diploma or GED; current CPR/BLS certification; a minimum of six months of experience in a clinical or hospital setting; and successfully completing an accredited respiratory therapy program. Additionally, the candidate must have a valid Mississippi driver’s license and be able to pass a criminal background check.

Responsibilities:

  1. Provide quality patient care in accordance with standards set by the University of Mississippi Medical Center.
  2. Monitor patient's vital signs, as well as their response to treatments.
  3. Educate patients and family members on proper respiratory care and disease management.
  4. Maintain accurate records of patient care, including progress notes, treatments, and patient assessments.
  5. Perform diagnostic tests, such as pulmonary function tests, to assess patients’ respiratory status.
  6. Assist in the preparation and implementation of treatment plans.
  7. Evaluate the effectiveness of treatments and modify plans as needed.
  8. Provide assistance with medical equipment and instruction on its use and care.
  9. Participate in regular respiratory therapy team meetings and provide input on patient care plans.
  10. Maintain a safe and clean work environment.
