
Animal Lab Technician
The University of Mississippi Medical Center is seeking an experienced Animal Lab Technician to join their expanding team. This individual will be responsible for providing animal care and support for the laboratory research staff and must be comfortable working with a variety of species in a laboratory setting. The successful candidate must have a passion for animal welfare and a commitment to professional excellence.The ideal candidate should have a strong knowledge of animal care and safety protocols, a keen eye for detail, and excellent communication and organizational skills. A Bachelor's degree in animal science, biology, or a related field is preferred, but not required. Experience working in an animal laboratory environment is also highly desirable. Additionally, the successful candidate should possess the ability to stay organized in a fast-paced environment and have a strong sense of accountability for their work. This position requires a strong commitment to animal welfare and adherence to all animal care regulations.
Responsibilities:
- Provide animal care and support for laboratory research staff
- Monitor and maintain animal health and welfare
- Follow all animal care regulations and protocols
- Maintain laboratory environment to ensure safety and cleanliness
- Monitor and record animal behavior and health data
- Administer medications and treatments as needed
- Assist with animal husbandry and breeding, including record keeping
- Prepare and manage food and water for laboratory animals
- Monitor and maintain laboratory equipment
- Assist with laboratory research experiments as required
- Maintain detailed and accurate records of animal care activities
- Work collaboratively with laboratory staff to ensure adherence to safety and animal welfare regulations
- Respond to inquiries from laboratory personnel regarding animal care
