Job Description

We are seeking a compassionate and skilled Veterinary Technician to join our Emergency and Critical Care team at the University of Florida. In this role, you will have the opportunity to make a meaningful impact on the lives of both animals and their owners. As a Part-Time Emergency and Critical Care Veterinary Technician, you will provide essential support to our team of veterinarians in the treatment and care of critically ill and injured animals. Our ideal candidate is a highly motivated individual with a strong background in emergency and critical care medicine, and a deep passion for helping animals in need.   1. Provide compassionate and skilled care to critically ill and injured animals.
  2. Collaborate with a team of veterinarians to develop treatment plans for patients.
  3. Monitor and assess patients' vital signs and response to treatment.
  4. Administer medications and perform medical procedures as directed by veterinarians.
  5. Assist with emergency procedures and triage incoming patients.
  6. Maintain accurate and thorough medical records.
  7. Communicate effectively with veterinarians, colleagues, and pet owners regarding patient status and treatment plans.
  8. Ensure a clean and safe environment for patients, colleagues, and visitors.
  9. Stay up-to-date on current emergency and critical care techniques and protocols.
  10. Uphold ethical standards and maintain confidentiality of patient information.
  11. Demonstrate a deep passion for helping animals in need.
  12. Embrace the mission of providing exceptional care to patients and their families.
  13. Provide emotional support to pet owners during difficult situations.
  14. Assist with training and mentoring of new team members.
  15. Adhere to all hospital policies and procedures.

Job Qualifications
  • Minimum Of 1 Year Experience Working As A Veterinary Technician In An Emergency And Critical Care Setting.

  • Certification As A Veterinary Technician (Cvt) Or Licensed Veterinary Technician (Lvt) In The State Of Florida.

  • Proficiency In Performing Emergency Procedures, Such As Cpr And Triage, In A Fast-Paced Environment.

  • Knowledge Of Veterinary Medical Terminology And Ability To Accurately Record Patient Information.

  • Ability To Work Flexible Hours, Including Nights, Weekends, And Holidays, As This Position Is Part-Time And May Require On-Call Shifts.
