Are you a passionate performer with experience in musical theater? Do you have a desire to inspire and educate others in the art of musical theater? The UC College-Conservatory of Music at the University of Cincinnati is seeking a dynamic and talented individual to join our team as a Musical Theater Instructor for the Spring semester. As an adjunct faculty member, you will have the opportunity to share your expertise and help shape the next generation of musical theater performers. We are looking for candidates who possess a strong background in musical theater, excellent communication skills, and a dedication to providing a high-quality education to our students. Join us in our mission to cultivate the next generation of musical theater professionals.

  1. Develop and teach engaging and informative lessons in musical theater for undergraduate students.
  2. Create a positive and inclusive learning environment that encourages students to explore and develop their passion for musical theater.
  3. Instruct students on the fundamentals of musical theater, including singing, dancing, and acting techniques.
  4. Provide individualized feedback and coaching to students to help them improve their skills and reach their full potential.
  5. Collaborate with other faculty members to develop and implement curriculum that meets the standards of the university and the musical theater industry.
  6. Stay up-to-date with industry trends and techniques and incorporate them into the curriculum.
  7. Foster a supportive and professional relationship with students, serving as a mentor and role model.
  8. Assist with auditions, rehearsals, and performances as needed.
  9. Participate in departmental meetings and events to contribute to the growth and development of the program.
  10. Demonstrate a commitment to diversity and inclusivity in all aspects of teaching and mentoring students.
  11. Maintain accurate records of student attendance, grades, and other relevant information.
  12. Continuously evaluate and improve teaching methods to ensure the highest quality education for students.
  13. Actively engage in professional development opportunities to enhance teaching skills and knowledge.
  14. Adhere to university policies and procedures and promote a safe and respectful learning environment.
  15. Serve as an ambassador for the university and the musical theater program, representing it professionally and positively to the community.

Job Qualifications
  • Extensive Professional Experience In Musical Theater: The Ideal Candidate Should Have A Strong Background In Musical Theater, With Experience Working In Professional Productions And A Deep Understanding Of The Industry.

  • Strong Teaching Skills: A Successful Musical Theater Instructor Should Have Excellent Teaching Skills And Be Able To Effectively Convey Concepts And Techniques To Students Of Varying Skill Levels.

  • Knowledge Of Current Industry Trends And Practices: The Instructor Should Be Up-To-Date With The Latest Developments And Trends In The Musical Theater Industry, And Be Able To Incorporate This Knowledge Into Their Teaching.

  • Experience Teaching At The Collegiate Level: Previous Experience Teaching At The Collegiate Level Is Highly Desirable, As It Demonstrates The Ability To Work With Young Adults And Prepare Them For Careers In The Performing Arts.

  • Collaborative And Adaptable: The Ideal Candidate Should Be Able To Work Well With Others And Be Open To Adapting Their Teaching Approach To Meet The Needs Of Students And Colleagues. This Is Especially Important In A Fast-Paced And Ever-Changing Industry Like Musical Theater.
