In this role, you will play a crucial role in maintaining the safety and security of our patients, visitors, and staff.   1. Oversee and manage the daily operations of the Public Safety department to ensure the safety and security of patients, visitors, and staff.
  2. Develop and implement safety protocols and procedures to maintain a safe and secure environment within the hospital and its surrounding areas.
  3. Supervise a team of public safety officers, providing guidance, support, and training as needed.
  4. Monitor and evaluate the performance of public safety officers, providing feedback and addressing any issues or concerns that may arise.
  5. Collaborate with other departments and hospital leadership to develop emergency response plans and ensure effective communication and coordination during crisis situations.
  6. Review and analyze security data and reports to identify potential risks or areas for improvement, and make recommendations for enhancing safety measures.
  7. Conduct regular inspections and audits of hospital facilities to ensure compliance with safety and security standards.
  8. Serve as a liaison with local law enforcement agencies and emergency services to coordinate responses to security incidents or emergencies.
  9. Develop and maintain positive relationships with patients, visitors, and staff, and address any security-related concerns or complaints in a timely and professional manner.
  10. Stay updated on current trends and advancements in public safety practices and technology, and make recommendations for implementing new strategies or equipment as needed.
  11. Ensure that all public safety officers are properly trained and equipped to handle various emergency situations, and provide ongoing training and development opportunities.
  12. Maintain accurate records and documentation related to security incidents, investigations, and training activities.
  13. Uphold and enforce all hospital policies and procedures related to safety and security, and ensure that all staff members are aware of and adhere to these standards.
  14. Participate in the hiring, onboarding, and performance evaluation of public safety officers, and make recommendations for promotions or disciplinary actions when necessary.
  15. Serve as a role model for professionalism, integrity, and dedication to the mission and values of the University of Chicago Medicine.

Job Qualifications
  • Excellent Communication And Interpersonal Skills, With The Ability To Effectively Lead And Manage A Team.

  • Minimum Of 5 Years Experience In A Supervisory Role In A Public Safety Or Security Department.

  • Bachelor's Degree In Criminal Justice, Public Administration, Or A Related Field.

  • Knowledge Of Laws And Regulations Related To Public Safety, Emergency Response, And Security.

  • Proven Ability To Make Critical Decisions Under Pressure And Handle Emergency Situations Calmly And Efficiently.
