We are currently seeking a motivated and driven student to join our team as a Pharmacy Intern in our Inpatient Pharmacy. This is a unique opportunity for a student in a pharmacy program to gain hands-on experience and contribute to our dynamic and fast-paced environment.   1. Assist pharmacists in the preparation and dispensing of medications for inpatient use.
  2. Ensure accuracy and completeness of medication orders, including proper labeling and documentation.
  3. Monitor inventory levels and assist in medication ordering and restocking.
  4. Participate in medication reconciliation and assist in resolving any discrepancies.
  5. Communicate effectively with healthcare team members to ensure proper medication administration and patient safety.
  6. Actively participate in medication therapy management and drug utilization review programs.
  7. Maintain a clean and organized work environment, following all hospital and pharmacy policies and procedures.
  8. Complete assigned projects and tasks in a timely and efficient manner.
  9. Attend and actively participate in departmental meetings and educational sessions.
  10. Continuously seek opportunities to expand knowledge and skills in pharmacy practice and patient care.
  11. Adhere to all legal and ethical standards in regards to patient confidentiality and privacy.
  12. Assist in training and supervising new pharmacy interns and technicians.
  13. Collaborate with other healthcare professionals to provide optimal patient care.
  14. Foster a positive and professional work environment by promoting teamwork and open communication.
  15. Represent the University of Chicago Medicine and the pharmacy department in a positive and professional manner.

Job Qualifications
  • Completed Coursework In Pharmacy School: A Student Pharmacy Intern At University Of Chicago Medicine Should Have Completed At Least Two Years Of Coursework In Pharmacy School, With A Focus On Inpatient Pharmacy Practices.

  • Active Pharmacy Intern License: Candidates Should Possess An Active Pharmacy Intern License In The State Of Illinois, With The Ability To Obtain A Controlled Substance License If Required.

  • Strong Communication Skills: The Ability To Effectively Communicate With Patients, Healthcare Professionals, And Other Pharmacy Staff Is Essential For A Student Pharmacy Intern At University Of Chicago Medicine.

  • Knowledge Of Inpatient Pharmacy Procedures: Candidates Should Have A Solid Understanding Of Inpatient Pharmacy Procedures, Including Medication Dispensing, Inventory Management, And Compounding.
