
Respiratory Therapist (RRT), Pediatrics

- Provide compassionate care to pediatric patients with respiratory disorders, chronic lung diseases, and other respiratory ailments.
- Utilize expertise in respiratory therapy to assess, plan, and implement appropriate treatment plans for each patient.
- Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team to develop and implement individualized care plans for pediatric patients.
- Administer respiratory treatments and medications to pediatric patients in accordance with established protocols and procedures.
- Monitor and evaluate patient response to treatments, making adjustments as needed to ensure optimal outcomes.
- Educate patients and their families on respiratory care techniques and disease management.
- Maintain accurate and thorough patient records, documenting all treatments and interventions.
- Adhere to infection control and safety protocols to ensure a safe and healthy environment for patients and staff.
- Stay current on advancements and best practices in respiratory therapy, incorporating them into practice as appropriate.
- Demonstrate a commitment to providing exceptional care and service to pediatric patients and their families.
- Collaborate with other healthcare professionals to ensure coordinated and comprehensive care for pediatric patients.
- Participate in quality improvement initiatives and contribute to the development of departmental policies and procedures.
- Continuously assess and maintain equipment and supplies needed for respiratory therapy procedures.
- Adhere to all hospital and departmental policies and procedures, including those related to patient confidentiality and ethical standards.
- Serve as a role model and mentor for respiratory therapy students and colleagues, promoting a positive and collaborative work environment.
Bachelor's Degree In Respiratory Therapy: The University Of Chicago Medicine Requires Rrts For The Pediatrics Department To Have A Minimum Of A Bachelor's Degree In Respiratory Therapy Or A Related Field. This Ensures That The Candidate Has A Strong Foundation In Respiratory Care Principles And Techniques.
Registered Respiratory Therapist (Rrt) Certification: The Candidate Must Be A Registered Respiratory Therapist (Rrt) Through The National Board For Respiratory Care (Nbrc). This Certification Demonstrates The Candidate's Mastery Of The Necessary Skills And Knowledge For The Job.
Pediatric Respiratory Care Experience: The Ideal Candidate Should Have At Least 2-3 Years Of Experience In Providing Respiratory Care To Pediatric Patients. This Experience Will Enable The Candidate To Handle The Unique Challenges Of Working With Children And Provide Effective And Compassionate Care.
Current Bls And Pals Certification: The University Of Chicago Medicine Requires Rrts For The Pediatrics Department To Be Certified In Both Basic Life Support (Bls) And Pediatric Advanced Life Support (Pals). These Certifications Ensure That The Candidate Is Up-To-Date On The Latest Techniques And Protocols For Pediatric Resuscitation And Emergency Care.
Strong Communication And Interpersonal Skills: Working With Pediatric Patients Requires A High Level Of Communication And Interpersonal Skills. The Ideal Candidate Should Be Able To Communicate Effectively With Children And Their Families, As Well As Other Healthcare Professionals, To Provide Comprehensive Care And Support.
