  1. Maintain a safe and secure environment: The primary responsibility of a Public Safety Officer is to ensure the safety and security of all individuals within the University of Chicago Medicine community. This includes patients, visitors, and staff.
  2. Patrol and monitor facilities: Public Safety Officers are responsible for patrolling and monitoring the premises to identify any potential safety hazards or security breaches. This may include conducting regular rounds, checking security cameras, and responding to alarms.

  • Previous Law Enforcement Or Security Experience: The Ideal Candidate Should Have Previous Experience In Law Enforcement Or Security-Related Roles. This Demonstrates Their Knowledge Of Safety Protocols And Procedures.

  • Excellent Communication Skills: Public Safety Officers Are Required To Communicate With A Variety Of Individuals, Including Staff, Patients, And Visitors. Strong Verbal And Written Communication Skills Are Essential For This Role.

  • Cpr And First Aid Certification: In Case Of Emergencies, A Public Safety Officer Must Be Able To Provide Immediate Medical Assistance. Having A Current Cpr And First Aid Certification Is A Must For This Position.

  • Physical Fitness: This Job Requires The Candidate To Be Physically Fit And Able To Handle Physically Demanding Tasks, Such As Patrolling The Hospital Campus And Responding To Emergencies. Candidates Must Pass A Physical Fitness Test To Be Considered For The Position.
