- Dispense and prepare medications accurately and efficiently for our inpatient population.
- Collaborate with pharmacists and other healthcare professionals to ensure proper medication orders and dosages.
- Maintain a safe and clean working environment by adhering to infection control procedures.
- Monitor and manage medication inventory levels to ensure adequate supply for patient needs.
- Update patient profiles and medication records accurately in the computer system.
- Provide exceptional customer service to patients, families, and healthcare providers.
- Perform medication reconciliation and resolve any discrepancies.
- Adhere to all hospital and regulatory policies and procedures related to medication dispensing and administration.
- Participate in medication error reporting and quality improvement initiatives.
- Train and mentor new pharmacy technicians as needed.
- Maintain confidentiality of patient information and follow HIPAA regulations.

Completion Of An Accredited Pharmacy Technician Program: Candidates Should Have Completed A Recognized Pharmacy Technician Program And Obtained Certification From The Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (Ptcb) Or The National Healthcareer Association (Nha).
Inpatient Pharmacy Experience: The Ideal Candidate Should Have A Minimum Of 2 Years Of Experience Working As A Pharmacy Technician In An Inpatient Setting. This Includes Experience With Medication Dispensing, Inventory Management, And Unit Dose Packaging.
Knowledge Of Pharmaceutical Calculations: A Strong Understanding Of Pharmaceutical Calculations Is Essential For A Pharmacy Technician In An Inpatient Setting. Candidates Should Be Proficient In Performing Calculations For Medication Dosages, Iv Drip Rates, And Compounding Formulas.
Familiarity With Electronic Health Record (Ehr) Systems: The University Of Chicago Medicine Utilizes Electronic Health Record Systems For Medication Orders And Documentation. Candidates Should Have Experience Working With Ehrs And Be Comfortable Navigating And Inputting Information Into These Systems.
Strong Communication And Teamwork Skills: In An Inpatient Setting, Pharmacy Technicians Must Work Closely With Pharmacists, Nurses, And Other Healthcare Professionals To Ensure Safe And Efficient Medication Administration.
