We are currently seeking a highly skilled Nuclear Medicine Technologist to join our team. As a Nuclear Medicine Technologist, you will play a vital role in the diagnosis and treatment of various medical conditions using specialized imaging equipment.   1. Perform nuclear imaging procedures: Conduct various nuclear imaging procedures such as PET scans, SPECT scans, and gamma camera imaging according to established protocols and physician orders.
  2. Operate specialized equipment: Operate and maintain specialized imaging equipment, including gamma cameras, PET scanners, and computer software, to ensure accurate and high-quality images.
  3. Ensure patient safety: Follow all safety protocols to ensure the safety of patients and staff during procedures involving radioactive materials.
  4. Prepare patients for procedures: Educate and prepare patients for nuclear imaging procedures, including obtaining medical history and explaining the procedure and potential risks.
  5. Administer radiopharmaceuticals: Prepare and administer radiopharmaceuticals to patients as directed by physicians, ensuring proper dosage and patient comfort.
  6. Monitor and record patient vital signs: Monitor and record patient vital signs during procedures and report any abnormalities to the attending physician.
  7. Evaluate image quality: Review images for quality and accuracy, making adjustments as necessary to obtain optimal results.
  8. Maintain records: Ensure accurate and timely documentation of procedures, patient information, and other required records.
  9. Collaborate with healthcare team: Collaborate with physicians, nurses, and other healthcare team members to provide the best possible patient care.
  10. Stay updated on industry developments: Keep up-to-date with advancements in nuclear medicine technology and techniques, attending conferences and workshops as needed.
  11. Adhere to policies and regulations: Follow all institutional policies and federal regulations related to nuclear medicine procedures, safety, and patient privacy.
  12. Train and supervise junior technologists: Train and supervise junior nuclear medicine technologists, providing guidance and support as needed.
  13. Maintain cleanliness and organization: Maintain a clean and organized workspace, ensuring the proper disposal of radioactive materials and adherence to infection control protocols.
  14. Promote patient satisfaction: Provide exceptional patient care and ensure patient comfort throughout the procedure, promoting a positive patient experience.
  15. Uphold the values of the institution: Represent the University of Chicago Medicine

Job Qualifications
  • Excellent Communication And Interpersonal Skills, With The Ability To Work Collaboratively With A Multidisciplinary Team.

  • Minimum Of 2 Years Of Clinical Experience In A Hospital Or Healthcare Setting.

  • Bachelor's Degree In Nuclear Medicine Technology Or Related Field.

  • Certification By The Nuclear Medicine Technology Certification Board (Nmtcb) Or American Registry Of Radiologic Technologists (Arrt).

  • Knowledge Of Radiation Safety Protocols And Experience With Handling Radioactive Materials.
