Job Description

In this role, you will play a critical role in our Cytogenetics Laboratory, working on cutting-edge research and diagnostic testing that has the potential to impact patient care.   1. Perform a variety of cytogenetics techniques, including chromosome analysis, fluorescence in situ hybridization (FISH), and microarray analysis, to assist in research and diagnostic testing.
  2. Analyze and interpret test results accurately and efficiently, ensuring data integrity and quality control.
  3. Maintain and troubleshoot equipment and instrumentation to ensure proper functioning and accuracy of results.
  4. Work collaboratively with a multidisciplinary team of healthcare professionals to provide accurate and timely results for patient care.
  5. Follow established protocols and procedures to ensure compliance with regulatory and safety standards.
  6. Keep detailed records of experiments, results, and observations, and report findings to the laboratory director.
  7. Stay current with new developments and advancements in the field of cytogenetics and incorporate them into laboratory practices.
  8. Assist in the training and supervision of laboratory staff, including students and technicians.
  9. Participate in research projects and contribute to scientific publications and presentations.
  10. Maintain a clean and organized laboratory environment, ensuring proper disposal of hazardous materials.
  11. Adhere to ethical and professional standards in all aspects of work, including patient confidentiality and data protection.
  12. Continuously evaluate and improve laboratory processes and procedures to optimize efficiency and accuracy.
  13. Communicate effectively with colleagues, superiors, and external collaborators to coordinate and prioritize tasks.
  14. Act as a representative of the laboratory and the institution in professional settings and conferences.
  15. Adhere to all institutional policies and procedures and ensure compliance with relevant laws and regulations.

Job Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree In Medical Laboratory Science Or A Related Field.

  • Certification As A Cytogenetics Technologist By The American Society For Clinical Pathology (Ascp) Or Equivalent.

  • Minimum Of 2 Years Experience Working In A Cytogenetics Laboratory, Preferably In A Hospital Or Academic Medical Center Setting.

  • Strong Knowledge Of Cytogenetic Techniques And Procedures, Including Karyotyping, Fish, And Microarray Analysis.

  • Ability To Work Efficiently And Accurately In A Fast-Paced Environment, With Excellent Attention To Detail And Problem-Solving Skills.
