- Develop and implement innovative clinical pharmacy programs and protocols for oncology patients, in collaboration with the interdisciplinary healthcare team.
- Conduct comprehensive medication reviews and provide evidence-based recommendations for optimal medication therapy management to ensure safe and effective treatment outcomes for oncology patients.
- Serve as a drug information resource for healthcare providers, patients, and caregivers, including providing education on medication use, side effects, and potential drug interactions.
- Collaborate with oncologists and other healthcare professionals to develop and implement individualized treatment plans for patients, including managing drug dosing, monitoring for adverse reactions, and adjusting therapy as needed.
- Participate in clinical research projects and contribute to the advancement of knowledge in the field of oncology pharmacy.
- Provide clinical support for investigational drug trials and assist in the management of drug inventory and distribution for these trials.
- Serve as a mentor and educator to pharmacy students, residents, and other healthcare professionals on oncology-related topics.
- Stay current with developments in oncology treatments, including new medications, therapies, and treatment guidelines, and incorporate this knowledge into practice.
- Collaborate with other healthcare professionals to develop and implement quality improvement initiatives related to oncology medication management.
- Maintain accurate and complete patient records, including medication histories, treatment plans, and progress notes.
- Adhere to all institutional policies and procedures, as well as state and federal regulations, related to medication use and patient care.
- Actively participate in multidisciplinary rounds and meetings to provide clinical expertise and contribute to patient care discussions.
- Serve as a resource for patients and their families, providing education and support regarding medication therapy and disease management.
- Maintain professional relationships with pharmaceutical industry representatives and participate in formulary reviews and medication utilization evaluations.
- Represent the institution at local, regional, and national conferences and meetings related to oncology pharmacy.
Doctor Of Pharmacy (Pharmd) Degree From An Accredited Pharmacy School
Board Certification In Oncology Pharmacy (Bcop) From The Board Of Pharmacy Specialties
At Least 3-5 Years Of Experience As A Clinical Pharmacist In An Oncology Setting
Knowledge Of Current Oncology Treatments And Therapies, Including Chemotherapy, Immunotherapy, And Targeted Therapies
Strong Communication And Collaboration Skills To Work With A Multidisciplinary Team Of Healthcare Professionals And Effectively Educate And Counsel Patients On Their Medication Regimens.
