As a Child Life Specialist, you will play a crucial role in helping children and families cope with hospitalization and medical procedures.   1. Develop and implement therapeutic interventions and activities to help children cope with hospitalization and medical procedures.
  2. Assess the psychosocial needs of children and families and provide appropriate support and resources.
  3. Collaborate with healthcare team members to ensure comprehensive care for patients and families.
  4. Educate patients and families on medical procedures and provide emotional support during these procedures.
  5. Create and maintain a safe and supportive environment for children and families.
  6. Utilize play, art, and other forms of activity to facilitate coping and self-expression.
  7. Document observations and interventions in patient charts.
  8. Communicate with parents and family members to provide updates on their child's progress.
  9. Participate in multidisciplinary team meetings and provide input on patient care plans.
  10. Stay updated on best practices and research in the field of child life and incorporate into daily practice.
  11. Communicate with external organizations and community resources to provide additional support for patients and families.
  12. Provide emotional support and guidance to siblings of hospitalized children.
  13. Maintain professional boundaries and confidentiality at all times.
  14. Collaborate with volunteers and student interns to enhance child life services.
  15. Participate in departmental and hospital-wide initiatives to improve the patient and family experience.

Job Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree In Child Life, Child Development, Or A Related Field From An Accredited University.

  • Certification As A Child Life Specialist From The Association Of Child Life Professionals (Aclp).

  • Minimum Of 2 Years Of Experience Working As A Child Life Specialist In A Hospital Or Healthcare Setting.

  • Knowledge Of Child Development Theories And Techniques For Promoting Coping And Stress Management In Children And Families.

  • Strong Communication And Interpersonal Skills, With The Ability To Work Collaboratively With Interdisciplinary Teams And Provide Emotional Support To Patients And Families.
