
Child Life Specialist

- Develop and implement therapeutic activities and interventions to support the emotional and developmental needs of children and families in the pediatric unit.
- Provide education and support to children and families about medical procedures, diagnoses, and hospitalization.
- Collaborate with healthcare team members to ensure a comprehensive and coordinated approach to patient care.
- Assess and address the social, emotional, and developmental needs of individual patients and their families.
- Maintain accurate and thorough documentation of patient interactions and progress.
- Serve as a liaison between patients and families and the healthcare team, advocating for the psychosocial needs of patients.
- Participate in multidisciplinary meetings and treatment planning to provide input on the psychosocial needs of patients.
- Develop and maintain relationships with community organizations and resources to support patients and families.
- Provide emotional support and counseling to patients and families during difficult situations, such as end-of-life care.
- Stay up-to-date on current research and best practices in child life and related fields to inform and improve patient care.
- Maintain professional boundaries and adhere to the code of ethics for child life specialists.
- Participate in ongoing professional development and training opportunities to enhance skills and knowledge.
- Advocate for the importance of child life services within the hospital and community.
- Collaborate with other child life specialists to develop and implement new programs and initiatives to enhance patient care.
- Actively contribute to a positive and supportive work environment within the pediatric unit.
Bachelor's Degree In Child Life, Child Development, Or Related Field.
Certification As A Child Life Specialist From The Child Life Council.
Minimum Of 2 Years Of Experience Working As A Child Life Specialist In A Hospital Setting.
Knowledge Of Child Development, Coping Mechanisms, And Therapeutic Play Techniques.
Ability To Work Collaboratively With A Multidisciplinary Team And Strong Communication Skills.
