The University of Chicago Medicine is seeking an Advanced Pharmacy Technician to join our dynamic Investigational Drug Services team on a full-time basis. In this role, you will have the unique opportunity to support cutting-edge research and clinical trials by preparing and dispensing investigational drugs to our patients.   1. Dispense investigational drugs to patients participating in clinical trials and research studies.
  2. Prepare and package investigational drugs in accordance with strict regulations and guidelines.
  3. Maintain accurate and detailed records of all investigational drugs and their distribution.
  4. Collaborate with research teams to ensure proper drug selection and dosing for each patient.
  5. Monitor drug inventory levels and order supplies as needed to ensure adequate stock for ongoing studies.
  6. Follow all safety protocols and standard operating procedures to maintain a safe and efficient work environment.
  7. Provide support and guidance to other pharmacy staff, including training and mentoring new technicians.
  8. Communicate effectively with physicians, nurses, and other healthcare professionals to ensure proper medication use and patient care.
  9. Participate in continuing education and stay updated on new developments in investigational drug services.
  10. Adhere to all ethical and legal standards, including maintaining patient confidentiality and adhering to HIPAA regulations.
  11. Act as a resource for patients and their families, answering their questions and addressing any concerns related to investigational drugs.
  12. Continuously evaluate and improve processes and procedures to enhance the efficiency and accuracy of investigational drug services.
  13. Assist with the management of investigational drug budgets and expenditures.
  14. Ensure compliance with all regulatory and institutional requirements related to investigational drugs.
  15. Maintain a high level of professionalism and represent the University of Chicago Medicine in a positive manner at all times.

Job Qualifications
  • Extensive Knowledge Of Investigational Drug Services - A Successful Candidate For This Role Should Have A Deep Understanding Of Investigational Drug Services, Including Regulations, Protocols, And Best Practices. This Knowledge Will Be Essential For Ensuring The Safe And Effective Handling Of Investigational Drugs At The University Of Chicago Medicine.

  • Certified Pharmacy Technician (Cpht) - A Cpht Certification Is A Must-Have For An Advanced Pharmacy Technician In An Investigational Drug Services Role. This Certification Demonstrates A High Level Of Competency And Knowledge In The Field, And Is Highly Valued By Employers.

  • Previous Experience In Investigational Drug Services - Prior Experience In A Similar Role, Preferably In A Hospital Setting, Is Highly Desirable For This Position. This Will Demonstrate The Candidate's Ability To Handle Investigational Drugs And Work Within The Complex Regulatory Framework Surrounding Them.

  • Strong Attention To Detail - As An Advanced Pharmacy Technician In Investigational Drug Services, The Candidate Will Be Responsible For Handling And Tracking Highly Sensitive And Regulated Medications. A Strong Attention To Detail Is Crucial For Ensuring Accuracy And Compliance In This Role.

  • Excellent Communication And Teamwork Skills - This Position Will Require Close Collaboration With Pharmacists, Physicians, And Other Healthcare Professionals. Therefore, Strong Communication And Teamwork Skills Are Essential For Success In This Role. The Candidate Should Be Able To Communicate Clearly And Effectively With A Diverse Group Of Individuals And Work Well In A Team Environment.
