Welcome to the University of California, San Diego's Radiation Oncology Department! We are currently seeking a highly skilled and experienced Per Diem Sr. Dosimetrist to join our team. In this role, you will have the opportunity to work alongside a dedicated and passionate team of healthcare professionals, providing essential treatment planning services to our patients. As a Per Diem Sr. Dosimetrist, you will play a crucial role in the delivery of high-quality and precise radiation therapy treatments.   1. Collaborate with radiation oncologists, physicists, and other healthcare professionals to develop treatment plans for patients.
  2. Utilize advanced knowledge and skills in medical dosimetry to accurately calculate and verify radiation therapy treatment doses.
  3. Assess patient needs and develop customized treatment plans based on individual diagnoses and physician prescriptions.
  4. Utilize specialized computer software and equipment to generate and evaluate radiation dose distributions.
  5. Monitor and evaluate patient response to treatment and make necessary adjustments to treatment plans as needed.
  6. Ensure the safe and accurate delivery of radiation therapy treatments by adhering to established protocols and safety standards.
  7. Maintain accurate and detailed patient records, including treatment plans, dosimetry calculations, and treatment delivery documentation.
  8. Communicate with patients and their families to address any questions or concerns regarding treatment plans and procedures.
  9. Stay current on developments in the field of medical dosimetry and radiation oncology to continuously improve skills and knowledge.
  10. Collaborate with the radiation oncology team in the development of new treatment techniques and protocols.
  11. Participate in quality assurance activities to ensure the accuracy and effectiveness of treatment plans and delivery.
  12. Maintain a high level of professionalism and empathy when interacting with patients, families, and colleagues.
  13. Maintain a clean and organized work environment, following all safety protocols and procedures.
  14. Adhere to all hospital policies, procedures, and regulations regarding patient confidentiality and safety.
  15. Provide support and guidance to junior dosimetrists and other staff members as needed.

Job Qualifications
  • Minimum Of 5 Years Experience As A Dosimetrist, With At Least 2 Years In A Senior Or Leadership Role.

  • Certified Medical Dosimetrist (Cmd) By The Medical Dosimetrist Certification Board (Mdcb).

  • Proficient In Using Advanced Treatment Planning Systems, Including Varian Eclipse And Philips Pinnacle.

  • Experience With A Variety Of Treatment Modalities, Including Imrt, Vmat, Srs, And Sbrt.

  • Excellent Communication And Team Management Skills, With The Ability To Work Collaboratively With Physicians, Physicists, And Other Members Of The Radiation Oncology Team.
