
Pharmacy Technician - Controlled Substances

- Ensure the safe and accurate handling of controlled substances within the pharmacy department.
- Maintain strict adherence to all state and federal regulations related to controlled substances.
- Monitor and track inventory levels of controlled substances and ensure proper documentation and record-keeping.
- Conduct routine audits to ensure compliance with controlled substances policies and procedures.
- Collaborate with other members of the pharmacy team to ensure timely and accurate dispensing of controlled substances.
- Educate and train pharmacy staff on proper procedures for handling and dispensing controlled substances.
- Communicate with healthcare providers and insurance companies to ensure proper authorization and documentation for controlled substances.
- Maintain confidentiality and security of controlled substances at all times.
- Monitor and report any discrepancies or irregularities with controlled substances to the appropriate authorities.
- Stay updated on industry and regulatory changes related to controlled substances and implement necessary changes in procedures.
- Support and assist pharmacists in any tasks related to controlled substances.
- Maintain a clean and organized work environment to ensure efficient operations.
- Provide exceptional customer service to patients and healthcare providers.
- Participate in quality improvement initiatives to enhance patient safety and satisfaction.
- Adhere to all safety and infection control protocols.
- Perform other related duties as assigned by the pharmacy manager.
Certified Pharmacy Technician: Candidates Must Hold A Current Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (Ptcb) Certification Or Be Licensed As A Pharmacy Technician By The State Of Ohio.
Familiarity With Controlled Substances: Candidates Must Have A Thorough Understanding Of The Laws And Regulations Surrounding Controlled Substances, As Well As Experience Handling And Dispensing These Medications.
Attention To Detail: A High Level Of Attention To Detail Is Essential For This Role, As Pharmacy Technicians Are Responsible For Accurately Filling And Labeling Prescriptions For Controlled Substances.
Strong Communication Skills: Pharmacy Technicians Must Be Able To Effectively Communicate With Patients, Pharmacists, And Other Healthcare Professionals To Ensure Safe And Appropriate Use Of Controlled Substances.
Experience With Electronic Medical Records: Candidates Should Have Experience Using Electronic Medical Records Systems, As This Is The Primary Method For Documenting And Tracking Controlled Substance Prescriptions At University Hospitals Of Cleveland Medical Center.
