
Pathology Assistant - Surgical Pathology

As a Pathology Assistant, you will play a critical role in assisting pathologists with the accurate and timely diagnosis of diseases through the examination of tissues and cells. - Conduct detailed and accurate examinations of patient tissues and cells.
- Assist pathologists in the diagnosis of diseases and conditions.
- Prepare tissue samples for analysis and testing.
- Maintain and organize laboratory equipment and supplies.
- Record and report findings accurately and in a timely manner.
- Communicate effectively with pathologists, medical staff, and other team members.
- Follow established protocols and safety procedures.
- Participate in quality control and quality assurance activities.
- Keep up-to-date with advancements in the field of pathology.
- Provide exceptional patient care and maintain patient confidentiality.
- Collaborate with other healthcare professionals to ensure comprehensive and accurate patient care.
- Maintain accurate and organized records of all procedures and results.
- Train and mentor new pathology assistants and laboratory staff.
- Continuously improve and optimize laboratory processes.
- Adhere to all hospital and laboratory policies and procedures.
- Maintain a clean and safe work environment.
- Participate in relevant research projects and publications.
- Attend relevant conferences and workshops to stay updated on latest advancements in the field.
- Act as a liaison between the pathologists and other medical staff.
- Demonstrate a strong commitment to the values and mission of the University Hospitals of Cleveland Medical Center.
Bachelor's Or Master's Degree In Pathology Or Related Field.
Certification As A Pathologist Assistant (Pa) From The American Society For Clinical Pathology (Ascp).
Minimum Of 2 Years Of Experience Working As A Pathology Assistant In A Surgical Pathology Setting.
Knowledge Of Histology And Laboratory Techniques, Including Grossing And Processing Tissue Samples.
Strong Organizational Skills And Attention To Detail, With The Ability To Handle Multiple Tasks And Prioritize Workload Effectively.
