  • Perform venipuncture and capillary punctures to collect blood samples from patients
  • Verify patient information and ensure proper labeling of samples
  • Follow standard procedures for specimen handling and processing
  • Maintain a clean and organized work area, including proper disposal of biohazard waste
  • Monitor and maintain inventory of supplies and equipment
  • Communicate effectively with patients to provide a positive and comfortable experience
  • Work collaboratively with other healthcare professionals to ensure accurate and timely test results
  • Adhere to all safety and infection control protocols
  • Accurately document and maintain records of procedures and patient information
  • Continuously strive to improve processes and procedures for optimal patient care
  • Attend trainings and stay updated on industry standards and best practices.

Job Qualifications
  • Certification: A Phlebotomist Must Be Certified By A Recognized Organization, Such As The American Society For Clinical Pathology (Ascp), In Order To Practice At Unitedhealth Group.

  • Previous Experience: Candidates Should Have A Minimum Of 1-2 Years Of Experience Working As A Phlebotomist In A Healthcare Setting. This Experience Should Include Proficiency In Drawing Blood, Labeling Samples, And Maintaining Accurate Records.

  • Knowledge Of Medical Terminology: A Strong Understanding Of Medical Terminology Is Essential For A Phlebotomist At Unitedhealth Group. This Includes Knowledge Of Common Laboratory Tests And Procedures, As Well As The Ability To Accurately Document And Report Results.

  • Attention To Detail: As A Phlebotomist, Attention To Detail Is Critical In Order To Ensure Accurate Sample Collection And Labeling. Candidates Must Have A High Level Of Focus And Precision To Ensure The Safety And Well-Being Of Patients.

  • Interpersonal Skills: The Ability To Communicate Effectively And Build Rapport With Patients Is A Key Qualification For A Phlebotomist At Unitedhealth Group. This Includes A Friendly And Professional Demeanor, As Well As The Ability To Put Patients At Ease During Blood Draws.
