  1. Perform phlebotomy procedures to collect blood and other specimens from patients in a timely and accurate manner.
  2. Handle and process specimens according to established protocols and safety regulations.
  3. Maintain a clean and organized work environment to ensure the accuracy and integrity of specimens.
  4. Label all specimens accurately and ensure proper identification and tracking.
  5. Maintain patient confidentiality and uphold privacy regulations at all times.
  6. Communicate effectively with patients, healthcare team members, and laboratory staff to ensure smooth and efficient specimen collection and processing.
  7. Follow all infection control and safety protocols to protect both patients and staff.
  8. Keep up-to-date with industry developments and changes in phlebotomy techniques and procedures.
  9. Participate in quality control and assurance activities to ensure accuracy and reliability of test results.
  10. Adhere to company policies and procedures, as well as federal, state, and local regulations.
  11. Provide excellent customer service and patient care, always maintaining a professional and friendly demeanor.
  12. Collaborate with other healthcare professionals to ensure seamless patient care and continuity of services.
  13. Report any issues or concerns regarding specimen collection, processing, or patient care to the appropriate individuals.
  14. Maintain accurate and complete records, including patient information, specimen tracking, and test results.
  15. Actively participate in training and educational opportunities to enhance knowledge and skills.

Job Qualifications
  • Certification Or Licensure: A Phlebotomist At Unitedhealth Group Should Hold A Valid Certification Or Licensure From An Accredited Organization Such As The American Society For Clinical Pathology (Ascp) Or The National Phlebotomy Association (Npa).

  • Knowledge Of Phlebotomy Techniques And Procedures: Candidates Should Have A Strong Understanding Of Venipuncture, Capillary Puncture, And Other Phlebotomy Techniques. They Should Also Have Knowledge Of Safety Protocols And Infection Control Measures To Ensure The Safety Of Patients And Staff.

  • Experience With Specimen Processing And Handling: Unitedhealth Group May Require Candidates To Have Experience With Processing And Handling Various Types Of Specimens, Including Blood, Urine, And Tissue Samples. This Includes Labeling, Documenting, And Storing Specimens Correctly.

  • Attention To Detail: Phlebotomists Must Have A Keen Eye For Detail To Accurately Collect And Document Patient Information And Specimens. They Should Also Be Able To Follow Instructions And Protocols Precisely To Ensure Accurate And Reliable Test Results.

  • Strong Communication Skills: As A Phlebotomist, Candidates Will Be Interacting With Patients And Healthcare Professionals On A Daily Basis. Therefore, Strong Communication Skills Are Essential To Effectively Explain Procedures, Answer Questions, And Provide A Positive Patient Experience.
