  1. Accurately code and review medical records for inpatient services in accordance with coding guidelines and regulations.
  2. Utilize knowledge and expertise in medical coding to ensure accurate and timely completion of all coding tasks.
  3. Conduct thorough and detailed reviews of medical records to identify any discrepancies or missing information.
  4. Collaborate with healthcare providers and other team members to ensure accurate and complete coding of medical records.
  5. Maintain up-to-date knowledge of coding practices, guidelines, and regulations to ensure compliance with industry standards.
  6. Communicate effectively with team members and superiors regarding coding issues and updates.
  7. Prioritize and manage workload to meet coding targets and deadlines.
  8. Conduct quality assurance reviews to ensure accuracy and completeness of coded records.
  9. Identify and report any potential coding or billing issues to the appropriate parties.
  10. Participate in training and development opportunities to enhance coding skills and knowledge.
  11. Adhere to all confidentiality and HIPAA regulations.
  12. Maintain a high level of professionalism and positive attitude when representing UnitedHealth Group.
  13. Contribute to a positive and collaborative work environment.
  14. Serve as a resource for coding-related inquiries and provide guidance to colleagues when needed.
  15. Continuously seek opportunities to improve processes and procedures related to medical coding.

Job Qualifications
  • Certified Coding Credential: The Candidate Must Hold A Certified Coding Credential Such As Ccs, Cpc, Or Cic Through Ahima Or Aapc.

  • Inpatient Coding Experience: Minimum Of 2 Years Of Recent Inpatient Coding Experience In An Acute Care Setting.

  • Knowledge Of Medical Terminology And Anatomy: Strong Understanding Of Medical Terminology And Anatomy To Accurately Code Complex Inpatient Medical Records.

  • Proficient In Icd-10-Cm And Pcs: In-Depth Knowledge And Experience In Assigning Icd-10-Cm And Pcs Codes Accurately And Efficiently.

  • Familiarity With Coding Software And Systems: Experience With Electronic Health Records (Ehr) And Coding Software Such As 3M, Epic Or Optum Encoder. Ability To Adapt To New Coding Systems And Technology.
