  1. Accurate Inpatient Coding: The primary responsibility of this role is to accurately code and abstract inpatient medical records according to established coding guidelines and standards.
  2. Timely Completion: The Certified Inpatient Medical Coder will be responsible for completing coding assignments within designated time frames to ensure timely submission of claims and reimbursement.
  3. Adherence to Coding Guidelines: It is the responsibility of the Certified Inpatient Medical Coder to stay up-to-date on coding guidelines and standards to ensure accurate and compliant coding.
  4. Quality Assurance: The individual in this role will be responsible for performing quality assurance checks on coded records to ensure accuracy and completeness.
  5. Collaboration: The Certified Inpatient Medical Coder will work closely with other members of the healthcare team, including physicians and other coding professionals, to gather necessary information and ensure accurate coding.
  6. Record Maintenance: This role requires maintaining and updating coding databases and systems to accurately reflect changes in coding guidelines and regulations.
  7. Compliance: The individual in this role will adhere to all coding and compliance policies and procedures to ensure accurate and ethical coding practices.
  8. Continuous Learning: As a member of the UnitedHealth Group team, the Certified Inpatient Medical Coder will have opportunities for continuous learning and development to stay current with industry changes and advancements.

Job Qualifications
  • Certified Professional Coder (Cpc) Or Certified Coding Specialist (Ccs) Certification From The American Academy Of Professional Coders (Aapc) Or The American Health Information Management Association (Ahima).

  • Minimum Of 2 Years Of Inpatient Coding Experience In A Healthcare Setting.

  • Strong Understanding Of Icd-10-Cm, Cpt, And Hcpcs Coding Systems.

  • Proficiency In Using Electronic Medical Record (Emr) Systems And Coding Software.

  • Knowledge Of Medical Terminology, Anatomy, And Physiology.
