Job Description

The United States Department of Education is seeking an experienced professional to join our team as our Director of Facilities Services. This individual will be responsible for the planning, management, and oversight of the department's facilities, ensuring that all operations are running smoothly and efficiently. This is a highly visible role that requires an individual with strong leadership and organizational skills.The ideal candidate for this position will have a minimum of 5 years of experience in facilities management, with experience in a large-scale organization preferred. They must have strong project management and problem-solving abilities, as well as the ability to manage a diverse team of employees. They must have excellent communication skills and be able to effectively prioritize tasks. Responsibilities:

  1. Develop and implement strategies for the effective management of the department's facilities.
  2. Monitor and analyze the operations of the facilities and develop plans to improve efficiency.
  3. Manage the daily operations of the facilities, including facility maintenance, security, and safety.
  4. Oversee the hiring, training, and supervision of all facility staff.
  5. Develop and maintain relationships with vendors and contractors.
  6. Monitor and enforce the department's policies and procedures.
  7. Manage the budget for the facilities, ensuring that all expenses are within budget.
  8. Ensure compliance with all local, state, and federal regulations.
  9. Respond to any complaints or issues that arise in the facilities.
  10. Prepare reports and presentations to keep senior management informed of the operations of the facilities.
