Job Description

The United States Department of Defense is seeking a Librarian to join our team in providing comprehensive library services and support to the DoD community. The successful candidate will be an organized, detail-oriented professional with a passion for books and information. We are looking for someone who is well-versed in library procedures and protocols, and able to work independently to ensure the efficient operation of our library.The ideal candidate will possess the following qualifications: a Bachelor’s degree in library science or a related field; experience working in a library setting; strong knowledge of library cataloging and classification systems; excellent interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills; and the ability to multitask and manage competing priorities. Responsibilities:

  1. Provide comprehensive library services and support to the DoD community.
  2. Develop and implement library procedures and protocols.
  3. Maintain library catalogs and classification systems.
  4. Assess library resources and recommend new materials for acquisition.
  5. Ensure library resources are properly maintained and organized.
  6. Assist library patrons with locating materials and information.
  7. Provide reference and research assistance.
  8. Prepare and deliver library orientations and presentations.
  9. Manage library operations and staff.
  10. Participate in library professional development activities.
