Job Description

We are looking for an experienced and motivated IT Specialist (Systems Administration) to join the United States Department of Commerce. As a key member of our team, this individual will be responsible for providing technical support for the department's IT systems and services. The ideal candidate will have a comprehensive knowledge of server systems and software, a strong understanding of system security protocols, and an excellent working knowledge of networking and troubleshooting processes. In addition to the technical skills, this person should possess a high level of attention to detail, excellent organizational skills, and a strong customer service focus. Responsibilities:

  1. Install, configure, and maintain IT systems and services for the United States Department of Commerce.
  2. Monitor system performance, security, and reliability.
  3. Provide technical support to department staff, including troubleshooting hardware and software issues.
  4. Develop and implement system security protocols to protect against unauthorized access.
  5. Research and recommend new technologies and strategies for optimizing system performance.
  6. Ensure compliance with all applicable government regulations and industry standards.
  7. Maintain detailed records of system performance and activity.
  8. Provide customer service to department staff and other stakeholders.
  9. Identify areas for improvement and develop plans to address them.
  10. Work with other IT professionals to develop and implement effective strategies for system maintenance and upgrades.
