- Develop and implement radiation safety protocols and procedures in accordance with regulatory standards and guidelines.
- Conduct regular radiation safety audits and inspections to ensure compliance and identify any potential hazards.
- Provide radiation safety training and education to all staff members, including proper handling and disposal of radioactive materials.
- Maintain accurate records of radiation safety activities and ensure proper documentation is maintained.
- Collaborate with other departments to create and update radiation safety policies and procedures.
- Stay current on advancements in radiation safety technology and regulations, and make recommendations for improvements to current protocols.
- Investigate and report any incidents or concerns related to radiation safety.
- Serve as a resource for staff and patients regarding radiation safety questions and concerns.
- Coordinate with external agencies, such as the Nuclear Regulatory Commission, to ensure compliance with all radiation safety regulations.
- Assist in the development and maintenance of emergency response plans related to radiation safety.
- Monitor radiation levels in various areas of the facility and take corrective action if necessary.
- Conduct periodic assessments of equipment and facilities to ensure proper functioning and safety.
- Collaborate with radiation oncologists and medical physicists to ensure safe and effective use of radiation therapy.
- Participate in interdisciplinary teams to promote a culture of safety and continuous improvement.
- Maintain confidentiality and adhere to all HIPAA regulations in handling radiation safety information.
Bachelor's Degree In Health Physics, Radiation Science, Or A Related Field.
Minimum Of 2-3 Years Of Experience In Radiation Safety, Preferably In A Healthcare Setting.
Certification From A Recognized Organization Such As The American Board Of Health Physics Or The National Registry Of Radiation Protection Technologists.
Strong Knowledge Of Federal And State Regulations Governing Radiation Safety, Including Experience With Regulatory Agencies Such As Nrc And Osha.
Excellent Communication And Interpersonal Skills, With The Ability To Train And Educate Staff On Radiation Safety Protocols And Procedures.
