  1. Greet and welcome patients and their families in a friendly and professional manner.
  2. Collect and verify patient demographic and insurance information accurately and efficiently.
  3. Schedule appointments for patients, following established protocols and guidelines.
  4. Ensure all necessary forms and documents are completed and signed by patients.
  5. Answer phone calls and respond to inquiries from patients regarding appointments, insurance, and general questions about UC Health.
  6. Collaborate with other departments to coordinate patient care and services.
  7. Assist patients with the registration process and provide them with necessary information and instructions.
  8. Maintain patient confidentiality and adhere to HIPAA guidelines.
  9. Troubleshoot and resolve any issues or concerns raised by patients related to their access to care.
  10. Update and maintain accurate records of patient information in the electronic medical system.
  11. Communicate any changes or updates in patient information to the appropriate departments.
  12. Attend training and educational sessions to stay current on policies and procedures.
  13. Provide excellent customer service to patients and their families, addressing any questions or concerns in a timely and respectful manner.
  14. Collaborate with the billing department to ensure accurate and timely processing of patient insurance claims.
  15. Participate in quality improvement initiatives and provide feedback on ways to improve the patient access process.

Job Qualifications
  • High School Diploma Or Equivalent: A Patient Access Specialist At Uc Health Must Have A High School Diploma Or Equivalent To Demonstrate A Basic Level Of Education.

  • Customer Service Experience: As A Patient Access Specialist, The Candidate Must Have Prior Experience In Customer Service Or A Related Field To Effectively Communicate With Patients And Handle Their Inquiries.

  • Knowledge Of Healthcare Procedures And Regulations: The Candidate Must Possess Knowledge Of Healthcare Procedures And Regulations To Ensure Accuracy In Patient Registration And Insurance Verification.

  • Proficiency In Computer Systems: The Job Requires The Candidate To Be Proficient In Using Computer Systems And Electronic Medical Records To Accurately Input Patient Information And Navigate Different Databases.

  • Strong Interpersonal And Communication Skills: A Patient Access Specialist Should Have Strong Interpersonal And Communication Skills To Interact With Patients, Coworkers, And Other Healthcare Professionals In A Professional And Empathetic Manner.
