- Accurately and efficiently scan and index documents into the electronic medical records system.
- Maintain the confidentiality and security of patient information in accordance with HIPAA regulations.
- Ensure the accuracy and completeness of scanned documents by reviewing for errors and inconsistencies.
- Communicate with various departments to obtain missing documents and resolve indexing issues.
- Maintain a thorough understanding of medical terminology and coding to correctly index documents.
- Adhere to departmental policies and procedures for document scanning and indexing.
- Collaborate with team members to ensure timely completion of scanning tasks.
- Keep track of scanned documents and their status using the electronic medical records system.
- Participate in ongoing training and education to stay updated on changes in electronic health records and medical terminology.

High School Diploma Or Equivalent: The Minimum Educational Requirement For A Him Scanning Specialist At Uc Health Is A High School Diploma Or Equivalent. This Ensures That The Candidate Has A Basic Level Of Education And Is Able To Understand And Follow Instructions Accurately.
Certification In Health Information Management: A Certification In Health Information Management (Him) Is Preferred For This Position. This Certification Demonstrates The Candidate’s Knowledge And Understanding Of Medical Terminology, Coding, And Record Keeping. It Also Shows Their Commitment To The Field And Their Ability To Perform The Duties Of A Him Scanning Specialist Effectively.
Experience In Medical Records Management: Previous Experience In Medical Records Management Is Highly Desirable For This Role. This Could Include Experience In Scanning, Indexing, And Storing Medical Records In A Healthcare Setting. Familiarity With Electronic Health Record Systems And Document Imaging Software Is Also A Plus.
Attention To Detail: A Him Scanning Specialist Must Possess Excellent Attention To Detail To Accurately Scan And Index Medical Records. This Includes Being Able To Identify And Correct Errors, As Well As Ensuring That All Records Are Organized And Labeled Correctly. A Keen Eye For Detail Is Essential To Ensure The Accuracy And Integrity Of Patient Records.
Strong Computer Skills: As A Him Scanning Specialist, The Ability To Use Computers And Document Imaging Software Effectively Is Crucial. Candidates Should Have A Good Understanding Of Computer Systems And Be Proficient In Using Microsoft Office And Other Relevant Software.
