  1. Conduct genetic counseling sessions with patients and their families to assess and discuss their genetic risks and provide support and education.
  2. Collect and analyze patient medical history, family history, and genetic test results to determine appropriate counseling and testing recommendations.
  3. Communicate complex genetic information to patients and their families in a clear and compassionate manner.
  4. Collaborate with other healthcare professionals to develop and implement individualized care plans for patients.
  5. Stay up-to-date with advancements in genetic testing, research, and counseling techniques to provide the most accurate and relevant information to patients.
  6. Maintain accurate and confidential records of patient interactions and counseling sessions.
  7. Provide emotional support and counseling to patients and their families as they make decisions about their health.
  8. Consult with physicians and other healthcare providers to discuss genetic testing options and results.
  9. Participate in research projects and contribute to the development of new genetic counseling programs.
  10. Attend conferences and seminars to enhance professional knowledge and skills.
  11. Adhere to ethical and professional standards set by the American Board of Genetic Counseling.
  12. Collaborate with insurance companies to obtain coverage for genetic testing and counseling services.
  13. Educate the community about genetic counseling services and the importance of understanding genetic risks.
  14. Assist in the training and supervision of genetic counseling students and interns.
  15. Foster a positive and collaborative work environment within the genetic counseling team and with other healthcare professionals.

Job Qualifications
  • Master's Degree In Genetic Counseling Or A Related Field From An Accredited Program.

  • Board Certification From The American Board Of Genetic Counseling (Abgc) Or The American Board Of Medical Genetics (Abmg).

  • Minimum Of 2 Years Of Experience In Clinical Genetic Counseling, Preferably In A Healthcare Setting.

  • Strong Knowledge Of Genetic Principles, Testing Methodologies, And Current Research In The Field.

  • Excellent Communication And Counseling Skills, With The Ability To Effectively Communicate Complex Genetic Information To Patients And Their Families.
