- Assist genetic counselors in gathering and organizing patient medical histories, family pedigrees, and genetic testing results.
- Schedule appointments and maintain accurate records of patient appointments and follow-up visits.
- Provide emotional support and comfort to patients and their families during genetic counseling sessions.
- Conduct basic genetic tests under the supervision of genetic counselors.
- Prepare and maintain genetic counseling materials, including brochures, educational handouts, and visual aids.
- Communicate with patients and their families to explain genetic testing results, answer questions, and provide resources for further support.
- Collaborate with other healthcare professionals to coordinate care for patients with genetic conditions.
- Stay up-to-date with advancements in genetics and genetic counseling methods through continuing education and professional development opportunities.
- Maintain confidentiality and adhere to privacy regulations in handling sensitive genetic information.
- Assist with administrative tasks such as scheduling, billing, and insurance authorizations.
- Foster a positive and welcoming environment for patients and their families, promoting a patient-centered approach to care.
Bachelor's Degree In Genetics, Counseling, Or Related Field.
Minimum Of 1-2 Years Of Experience In A Healthcare Setting, Preferably In Genetic Counseling.
Strong Communication And Interpersonal Skills, With The Ability To Interact With Patients, Families, And Healthcare Professionals.
Knowledge Of Genetic Testing And Counseling Principles, As Well As Current Trends And Developments In The Field.
Ability To Maintain Patient Confidentiality And Adhere To Ethical Standards In Genetic Counseling.
